A Puro Tango is an annual weekend event in Herbeys, France, focused on tango workshops and social dancing. This event has recently launched its first edition, offering a unique opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the tango experience.

History

Ecos del Plata, Alma de Tango, was founded in 2003 in Grenoble, France, by a passionate group of tango enthusiasts dedicated to promoting Argentine tango culture. The association quickly became a hub for tango lovers, offering weekly classes and social dancing events known as milongas. The founders aimed to create a welcoming environment where both beginners and experienced dancers could immerse themselves in the rich traditions of tango, fostering a sense of community and shared passion for this expressive dance form.

Over the years, Ecos del Plata has evolved significantly, transitioning from a small local gathering to a prominent regional presence in the tango scene. Initially hosting around 40 participants, the event series expanded its offerings to include workshops, special events, and themed milongas. Notable changes included the introduction of weekend retreats, such as the "Weekend Tango and Relaxation" in 2009, which featured workshops and culminated in grand balls, attracting participants from various regions. The association also adapted its format to include seasonal events, ensuring that the tango community remained engaged throughout the year.

Several editions stand out in the history of Ecos del Plata. The 10th anniversary celebration in 2013 marked a significant milestone, showcasing the growth and dedication of the community. Events like the "Milonga del Otoño" in 2014, featuring renowned teachers Esteban Moreno and Claudia Codega, highlighted the association's commitment to bringing high-quality instruction and performances to its members. The annual "Metafierro" series, which began in 2021, has become a hallmark of the association, featuring workshops and social dancing with esteemed maestros, further solidifying its reputation in the tango world.

Despite facing challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ecos del Plata has remained resilient. The association adapted by moving classes online and organizing smaller, safe gatherings, ensuring that the tango spirit continued to thrive. Today, Ecos del Plata stands as a vibrant community, offering a range of classes, workshops, and social events, all while maintaining its core mission of promoting Argentine tango culture in Grenoble and beyond. With a dedicated team of instructors and a passionate membership, the association continues to be a beacon for tango enthusiasts, celebrating the art of dance and the joy of connection.
