The Domus Tango Marathon is set to debut in Mérida, Spain, in 2025, with plans for an annual celebration of non-stop social dancing. With 2 editions anticipated, this marathon will offer tango dancers an immersive experience over several days.

History

The Domus Tango Marathon was founded in 2024 in the picturesque city of Mérida, Spain, by the passionate organizers Hazine Serquis and Cristina Bortolin. Their vision was to create a vibrant space where tango enthusiasts could immerse themselves in the dance they love, surrounded by the rich culture of Argentina. The inaugural event was designed to be an unforgettable weekend, featuring three days of continuous tango dancing, international DJs, and a complimentary folklore class led by renowned teacher Adrián Coria. The event quickly captured the hearts of participants, establishing itself as a must-attend gathering for tango lovers.

As the years progressed, the Domus Tango Marathon evolved significantly. The first edition in 2024 took place at La Marathon Sala, where attendees enjoyed a spacious dance floor and a welcoming atmosphere. The event's success laid the groundwork for its second edition, scheduled for May 2026, which promises to be even more spectacular. This time, the marathon will be held in a larger venue with a 300 m² dance floor, accommodating up to 250 dancers. The organizers have meticulously planned the event to ensure a seamless experience, with a focus on maintaining a balance between leaders and followers in the dance community.

The Domus Tango Marathon has already made a name for itself in the tango scene, attracting participants from various countries. The first edition featured an impressive lineup of DJs, including Angelo Grimaldi, Cristina Bortolin, Bruno de Souza, Claudio Cardona, Fernando Nahmijas, and Dicri, each bringing their unique musical flair to the dance floor. The second edition is set to continue this tradition, with professional DJs and a special Zamba Romántica class led by Horacio López, further enriching the cultural experience for attendees.

Despite being a relatively new event, the Domus Tango Marathon has faced the usual challenges of establishing a new festival, including the need to adapt to the evolving landscape of tango events. However, the dedication of its organizers and the enthusiastic response from the tango community have ensured its growth and sustainability. Today, the marathon stands as a beacon for tango lovers, offering a unique opportunity to connect, dance, and celebrate the passion for tango in a warm and inviting environment.

As the Domus Tango Marathon looks to the future, it continues to solidify its reputation as a premier tango event in Spain. With its commitment to quality, community, and cultural immersion, it promises to be a cherished gathering for years to come, where dancers can create lasting memories and friendships, all while celebrating the beauty of Argentine tango.
